Clinical Research Fellowship in Emergency Medicine
The Department of Emergency Medicine at
This two-year clinical research fellowship will consist of: (1) obtaining a master-level degree in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, health services, or related discipline in conjunction with the Colorado School of Public Health; (2) initiating and completing a substantial research project, selected on the basis of the project’s educational value, its clinical or scientific merit, and on the fellow’s long-term research interests; and (3) working as an attending physician in the emergency department at Denver Health Medical Center. The specific learning objectives for this fellowship are outlined in a separate document.
The overall goal of this fellowship is to train the fellow in the ethical conduct of clinical research and to provide the skills necessary to obtain extramural funding and to become an independent physician-scientist in emergency medicine. The successful candidate will be a recent graduate of an accredited emergency medicine residency program who wishes to pursue a career in clinical research.
Each fellow will be appointed as an Instructor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine upon approval by the

Salary for each fellowship year will be dependent upon the fellow’s level of postgraduate training and/or extent of extramural funding. Partial compensation may result from clinical duties as part of patient care activities. Additional funds for educational expenses, travel to scientific meetings, etc. will be made available at a specific annual rate, with any additional funds being provided by other extramural funding sources.
All research fellows will have dedicated office space, and access to administrative support, a local area network with state-of-the-art wireless, internet, electronic mail, and printing capabilities, and data management and statistical software.
